Possible Side Effects:
- Long Lasting: Can last up to 3–7 years.
- Chances of Pregnancy: 99% effective at keeping you from getting pregnant. You may get pregnant soon after you stop using method.
- Hormones: Method has hormones.
- Start and Stop: A provider must put it in and take it out.
- Discreet: IUD cannot be seen. It is small and sits inside your uterus (womb). You may feel the strings inside your vagina.
- Your Period: May change your period and may cause spotting or bleeding in between your periods.
- Breastfeeding: You can breastfeed while using method.
- STI/HIV Protection: You will need extra protection like condoms to prevent STIs/HIV.
Possible Side Effects:
- Spotting between periods (most often in the first few months that you have an IUD).
- Cramps and backaches.
- Lighter or no period.
